The maximum weekly workers’ compensation benefit in Alabama increased 3.1% Wednesday to $920 from $892.
At the same time, the Department of Labor announced that the minimum benefit will increase to $253 from $245.
Alabama law mandates that minimum compensation be 27.5% of the average weekly wage with benefits capped at 100% of the average wage.
The Department of Labor in May reported that the state’s average weekly wage for 2019 increased to $920.07 from $891.68. As a result, minimum and maximum benefits went up for injuries occurring on or after July 1.
