Worker Gets Judgment After Employer Retaliation

A New York appellate court upheld a determination that a worker had been fired in retaliation for announcing his intent to file a workers' compensation claim. Case: Matter of Markey v. Autosaver Ford, No. 529098, 03/16/2020, published.   Facts: Austin Markey was the general manager of an automobile dealership for Autosaver Ford. On Dec. 1, 2015, Markey slipped on ice as he was exiting a car at the dealership. He fell and suffered injuries to his back, neck and shoulder. He was hospitalized and returned to work on Dec. 7.
