Measure Allowing Workers to Receive Benefits in Multiple Jurisdictions Takes Effect

A measure allowing those receiving workers' compensation benefits from a state system to also seek benefits in the District of Columbia took effect Wednesday. Bill 26-0061, enacted in August, repeals a prohibition on receiving benefits under the D.C. Code when a worker already received comp benefits for the same injury or death. The bill also requires that the D.C. benefit award be reduced by the amount of compensation awarded in the other jurisdiction.
