Berkshire Jumps Ahead in Market Share Ranking as Comp Results Stay Steady

Berkshire Hathaway apparently leapfrogged over two competitors to nab the No. 3 spot in workers’ compensation market share in 2018, according to a recently released ranking. Travelers held down the top spot, while The Hartford maintained its second-place position in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners annual ranking, which is based on direct premiums written. NAIC will update the data through the end of March. As of Monday, the listing included 97.74% of property and casualty filings.
