Firefighter Pleads Guilty to Fraud Charges

A Southern California firefighter pleaded guilty to felony workers’ compensation fraud for making false statements to receive more than $145,000 in benefits, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced. Perry A. Lieber, 34, admitted a special allegation that the theft totaled more than $100,000 for victims that include Ventura County and York Risk Services. Deputy District Attorney Andrew Reid told the Ventura County Star that Lieber misrepresented the nature and extent of his injuries, as well as his physical capabilities.
