Man Allegedly Took More Than $38K in Fraudulent Workers' Comp Benefits

A Los Angeles-area man has been arraigned on three felony counts of workers’ compensation insurance fraud after he allegedly received more than $38,000 in illegal benefits, according to the California Department of Insurance. Prosecutors charged Alexander Cody Smith, 30, of Canoga Park, last month after investigators determined he received ill-gotten medical treatments and temporary disability benefits from his employer’s insurer, according to a DOI news release.
