After controlling for regional differences in wages and industrial mix, indemnity claim frequency continues to be significantly higher in the Los Angeles basin and significantly lower in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to a study of regional differences in claim characteristics the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California released Thursday.
The 2020 WCIRB Geo Study also found that medical-legal costs and paid allocated loss adjustment expenses are significantly higher in the Los Angeles and Bakersfield regions than in the rest of the state.
