The California Workers’ Compensation Institute said claim volume is disproportionately high in nine northern counties, but average claim costs are lower than in the rest of the state.
CWCI said in its latest Regional Score Card that Del Norte, Humboldt, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties account for 1.1% of the state’s workforce but generate 3.3% of workers’ compensation claims. However, the claims accounted for just 2.2% of total paid losses.
