Supreme Court Revives Worker's Maritime Tort Claims for Accident on Man-Made Island

The Alaska Supreme Court revived a worker’s maritime tort claims arising from an accident that resulted in the loss of his leg while he was helping to unload cargo on a man-made island. ENI Petroleum U.S. LLC owned the land and the oil and gas leases on Spy Island, an 11-acre, man-made island drill site in the Beaufort Sea. ENI Petroleum contracted with ENI U.S. Operating Co.
