Only about one in six small-business owners in a recent survey said they have workers’ compensation coverage, a trend that some say may be due to lack of awareness of the importance of the coverage or a belief that it will cost too much.
The survey was conducted by Insureon, an online provider of small-business insurance, in partnership with Manta, an online listing platform for small businesses. It asked approximately 1,200 small-business owners what types of business insurance they have purchased and whether they had ever filed for bankruptcy.
