A California appellate court ruled that a former police officer who was terminated for cause was not entitled to an industrial disability retirement.
James Suess worked as a police officer for the City of Pomona. In May 2016, the Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit received a citizen complaint against Suess. A second complaint was filed in July 2016.
Suess was notified of both complaints and was interviewed during IAU investigations. In August 2016, Suess was placed on paid administrative leave pending the completion of the investigations.
