Companies Must Pay Combined $2.3M in Misclassification Cases

A Greenwich valet parking company and a Central Falls painting contractor will pay roughly $2.3 million to settle allegations that they misclassified their employees as independent contractors. Valet Connection pleaded guilty to misclassifying 167 drivers from 2013-15. It must pay $374,970 to the workers and roughly $600,000 in civil penalties.
