Stipulation Filed in Lien-Fee Constitutional Challenge

A group of service providers who are challenging the constitutionality of the lien-activation fee imposed by Senate Bill 863 have agreed to dismiss Gov. Jerry Brown and Attorney General Kamala Harris from the lawsuit in exchange for a promise from the Department of Industrial Relations not to move the lawsuit out of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.In addition, the plaintiffs have agreed to extend the deadline for answering their complaint until Sept. 12 and propose a schedule for briefings in the case in a stipulation filed with the federal court in Los Angeles o...
