Zenith National Insurance Corp. on Tuesday reported a 21% gain in net income for the second quarter, as the California-based carrier reaped the benefits of a low combined ratio and no catastrophic losses.
Zenith reported net income for the second quarter of 2007 of $65.3 million, compared with $54.1 million in the previous year quarter.
The company's combined ratio in the workers' compensation segment was 61.7% in the second quarter of 2007, compared with 68.6% in the previous year quarter.
