A federal judge in Miami has sentenced a local physician to 30 years in prison, following his conviction on charges she billed Medicare for $11 million in unneeded HIV infusions as part of a South Florida scheme to involve kickbacks to Medicare beneficiaries.U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta said Ana Alvarez-Jacinto, 54, drew one of the longest prison terms ever involving a physician charged with Medicare fraud last week.
