Kids' Chance of California announces record-breaking scholarship season for CA

Soquel, CA August 7th, 2020 - Kids- Chance of California is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide need-based educational scholarships to the children of California workers who have been fatally or seriously injured on the job.

Every year, Kids' Chance of California does a push to high schools across the state and campaigns at industry conferences to bring awareness of the scholarships available to children of injured workers. The deadline for scholarships is in May every year. This year the board of directors is thrilled to announce we will be awarding a  record-breaking number of scholarships and total award dollars.

Kids' Chance of California was able to help 48 students in the state of California by awarding over $270,000 in scholarships. This was accomplished with a huge thanks to our generous donors, sponsors and supporters. Kids' Chance of California President, Amy Hanson said "With the economic impact from COVID -19, we were worried we couldn't fund the increased need this year, but thanks to our amazing sponsors, supporters and donors, we were able to help every eligible student this year."

"...I really am at a loss of words to describe how transformative this moment is." said one 2020 award recipient.  Kids' Chance of California Board Member and Scholarship Committee Chair, Seth Frohman said "This is the response we received from one of our elated scholarship awardees after she received her award letter from Kids' Chance of California. Her reaction sums up our experience this year. It has, indeed, been a transformative moment for KCOCA!"
