Leading California workers' compensation defense firm uses artificial intelligence to streamline new referral and mail processing.
Foundation AI, a leading provider of intelligent document processing software for the legal, insurance, and medical industries is pleased to announce a new implementation of its Extract Filer platform with Mullen Filippi (www.mulfil.com). With over 70 attorneys practicing out of its 15 California offices, Mullen Filippi is a leader in workers' compensation defense law, representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators before the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
Foundation AI Extract Filer uses artificial intelligence (AI) to process inbound documents - like physical mail, email, faxes, and large files directly into any practice management system faster, cheaper, and more accurately than manual data entry by expensive mailroom teams.
"Since converting over to Foundation AI, our staff are processing our referrals more than 3 times faster and are completing mail on a daily basis. Using Foundation AI has been one of the best decisions we have made," commented Michele Tracy, Director of Administration.
Foundation AI integrated Extract Filer with Mullen Filippi's existing scanners, fax systems, and MerusCase Legal Practice Management System. Mullen Filippi staff simply open, stack, and batch-scan new mail without any sorting; the software automatically matches each separate piece of mail to the correct matter. Staff can load in large documents, like new referrals, and the system uses AI to automatically sort the file into separately categorized documents. Extract Filer automatically categorizes and tags each document according to Mullen Filippi's rules, and extracts out key information like document dates, titles, senders, and doctors' names. Mullen Filippi staff confirm the AI's output and Extract Filer automatically names each document, tags it, and inserts it directly into the correct folder in the practice management system. It even tasks and alerts attorneys automatically, based on Mullen Filippi's rules for different types of documents.
"Mullen Filippi is one of those incredible firms that is constantly innovating to increase efficiency in everything they do," said Vivek Rao, CEO of Foundation AI. "With more attorneys working remotely, going paperless has never been more important. The problem firms face is that manually processing incoming documents is costly, slow, and error-prone. Our software automates most of this work, enabling remote operations, decreasing overhead costs, and freeing staff up to spend time on higher-value work."
This implementation follows other Extract Filer law firm implementations for Stockwell Harris, Acumen LLP, and Floyd Skeren Manukian Langevin, LLP (FSML).
