A Democratic state representative is trying again with a bill that would make mental stress a compensable condition.
House Bill 2051, co-sponsored by Del. Chad Lovejoy, D-Huntington, would allow first responders' “mental-mental” injuries to be eligible for workers' compensation benefits without an accompanying physical injury.
This is the fourth year that Lovejoy has introduced the legislation. A similar bill last year passed the House of Delegates but died in the Senate, according to a West Virginia newspaper report.
