A proposal to eliminate the preauthorization exemption for Texas accredited rehabilitation programs comes 15 years after stakeholders began questioning whether accreditation has any impact on return-to-work outcomes.
If adopted, amendments proposed by the Division of Workers' Compensation and solicited to stakeholders for comments would remove a 20% reimbursement advantage for facilities certified by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and end a policy that exempts accredited facilities from preauthorization requirements.
