Two web-based home-cleaning companies are facing lawsuits alleging they've misclassified employees as independent contractors, adding to the legal challenges such "sharing economy" services are facing in Bay Area courtrooms.
The most recent suits are against Homejoy and Handy, two companies that send workers to clean houses through an app, according to an article in the legal journal The Recorder. Attorneys from the Oakland labor law firm Goldstein, Borgen, Dardarian & Ho are representing the plaintiffs in three cases against those companies.
