Everest Re Group saw its net income climb $14 million from $275.6 million in the second quarter of 2013 to $290.2 million in the second quarter of 2014.
Even as the group's investment income fell more than $17 million between second quarters, its earned premiums rose more than $120 million from about $1.15 billion to $1.27 billion, according to a Thursday press release. Premium growth was mostly driven forward with U.S. property and specialty lines.
Everest Re also weathered an increase in claims and expenses, which rose from $1.03 billion to $1.09 billion.
