Workers' compensation insurers have come out swinging against Colorado's single-payer health care proposal, claiming that return-to-work times will increase if insurers can no longer direct injured workers to an approved network of doctors.
Proponents of the state's ColoradoCare initiative, a measure on the Nov. 8 ballot that would do away with insurer-approved networks and allow patients to choose their own doctors, say that argument makes sense only to insurers desperate to protect their own interests.
