Louisiana lawmakers voted to send the governor a bill that would allow carriers to collect past-due premiums after conducting payroll audits.
The Senate on Sunday voted 27-11 to pass HB 280, which the state House of Representatives voted 75-22 to pass in May.
The bill, by Rep. Michael Melerine, R-Shreveport, would repeal the law that restricts carriers from collecting additional premiums after a payroll audit and clarifies that audits must be completed within three years of a policy period.
