Battery Maker Hit With Fines After Worker Loses Finger

After an unguarded machine at a Salina battery plant severed part of a worker’s finger, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited the facility for a slew or workplace violations. Exide Technologies, based in Milton, Ga., was cited with one willful, and 10 serious safety and health violations, and may have to pay up to $127,300 in proposed penalties.
