Coal Seam Owner Has Civil Immunity to Mining Company's Employee

The Kentucky Court of Appeals ruled that the owner of a coal seam was immune from civil liability for injuries sustained by an employee of the mining company it hired to remove the coal. Case: Dixie Fuel Co. LLC v. Wynn, No. 2018-CA-000984-MR, 01/31/2020. Facts: The Dixie Fuel Co. LLC entered into a contract with the Robert Clear Coal Corp. in February 2013.
