House, Senate Flip Effective Dates on COVID Presumption Bills

The Virginia House of Delegates has approved a COVID-19 presumption for first responders, but the bill goes much further than a Senate version passed two weeks ago. SB 1375 was approved Tuesday by the House on a vote of 98-0 but not before a committee made the presumption retroactive to March 2020. The Senate version of the bill, introduced by Sen. Richard Saslaw, D-Springfield, would not have started the presumption until July of this year. It's unclear if lawmakers will attempt to resolve the differences in a conference committee.
