Justices: Docs Needn't Agree on Officer's Disability

The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday awarded a duty-related disability pension to a North Chicago police officer, deciding that state law requires that an officer be evaluated by three doctors -- not that they all agree about his medical condition.Justice Lloyd Karmeier wrote the unanimous opinion  that overturned the North Chicago Police Pension Board and an appellate court, both of which agreed that Lawrence Wade's knee problems were not the result of a work-related incident.
