Water District Asks County Prosecutors to Review Comp and other Payments

The Central Basin Municipal Water District, which is being investigated by the FBI for payments to a former state lawmaker and was recently dropped from a municipal insurance pool, is asking the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to investigate payments stemming from an auto accident caused by the water agency’s director, the Whittier Daily News reports. The district’s board of directors on Monday voted 3-2 to have county prosecutors investigate the legality of a $16,000 payment to a motorist injured in the crash and $63,000 in workers’ compensation benefits...
