The U.S. Supreme Court denied a petition from an air ambulance company that challenged a decision from the Texas Supreme Court holding that federal law does not preempt the state's comp system from regulating prices for transporting injured workers. By denying PHI Air Medical’s petition, the Supreme Court justices on Monday effectively upheld a 2020 decision handed down by the high court in Texas, which ruled that the Airline Deregulation Act does not bar the state from setting reimbursement rates.
