CWCI: IMR Volume Up 4.1% in First Half of 2023

The volume of independent medical review decision letters increased 4.1% in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, according to a new report by the California Workers’ Compensation Institute. At the same time, CWCI said IMR outcomes remained “fairly stable,” with 89.2% of utilization review modifications or denials being upheld in the first half of 2023 compared to 91.1% for the same period last year.
