Legislature Set to Consider Converting WCF to a Mutual

If lawmakers approve, Utah’s state-chartered Workers’ Compensation Fund could become a mutual carrier next year. State Sen. Curtis Bramble, R-Utah, on Thursday introduced SB 92, which would repeal statutes defining WCF as a nonprofit, quasi-public corporation effective Jan. 1, 2018. The Workers’ Compensation Fund would be required to file with the Department of Insurance amended and restated articles of incorporation as a mutual carrier before the end of 2017.
