Ohio's workers' compensation bureau will hold a public hearing Nov. 21 on proposed rules to curb spending on compounded drugs and opioids. The Bureau of Workers' Compensation sent the rules, which would limit reimbursement for opioids and compounded drugs, to the General Assembly's rule-review committee on Monday. Under the updated Rule 4123-6-21, the BWC would reimburse for topical compounded drugs only if they could prove patients used a "commercially available topical prescription or over-the-counter product" for 30 days without improving.
