The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has appointed a failed candidate for a seat in the state House of Representatives as acting director of the State Workers' Compensation Insurance Fund, according to a report in the Times-Tribune newspaper.

Eileen Cipriani of West Wyoming will be paid $104,040 annually in the post, which is consistent with the previous director's salary, a labor department spokeswoman told the newspaper.

SWIF is Pennsylvania's workers' compensation insurer of last resort. It is a part of the Department of Labor and Industry.

Cipriani was the Democratic candidate last year in a race against Republican Aaron Kaufer for the 120th District seat in the House. Previously she was a special assistant secretary for strategic initiatives at the Department of Labor and Industry, according to her Linkedin page. She is currently a council member for the borough of West Wyoming.
