The U.S. Postal Service's main post office in Des Moines, Iowa, faces $49,500 in penalties for safety violations involving tugs and forklifts, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration said.
OSHA said it inspected the post office after an employee complained about unsafe forklifts. It issued citations for one repeated and two serious safety violations after finding that one forklift and two tugs were operating without functioning flashing lights. OSHA had also cited the Postal Service for the same violation at the facility in 2010.
