The West Virginia Senate on Friday unanimously passed a bill that would expand the list of cancers that are presumed to be compensable for firefighters.
Senate Bill 170, by Sen. Ryan Weld, R-Brooke, would create the presumption that bladder cancer, testicular cancer and mesothelioma are compensable diseases for firefighters.
State law already presumes that leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma arose out of employment as a firefighter.
