The Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division announced that it is suspending temporary rules that reduced the penalty charged to employers that illegally operate without workers’ compensation coverage, as the state moves to reopen and rebuild its economy from the COVID-19 crisis.
In May, the division announced that it adopted temporary rules setting the penalty for a first-time violation of operating without insurance to $500 or 105% of premiums for the period of noncompliance, whichever is greater.
