The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed $105,000 in penalties for a railcar maker that supplies many of the nation’s subways for exposing its workers to chemicals and other hazards at its facility in Hornell.
Alstom Transportation Inc., a subsidiary of global rail equipment producers Alstom SA of France, was cited for exposing workers at its manufacturing plant to a number of substances above allowed levels, including cadmium, lead, nickel and silica, according to OSHA.
