Proposals to cut opioid use and combat abuse in Massachusetts have been welcomed by one of the country's leading insurance industry organizations.
Governor Charlie Baker has proposed limits on the number of opioids that can be prescribed and increased monitoring, requiring practitioners to check a database ahead of writing a prescription and mandating more education for physicians and others, as well as introduced more transparency of insurance carrier policies.
