A federal court in Ohio ordered a pharmacy and two pharmacists to stop dispensing certain controlled substances and to pay a $375,000 penalty to resolve a civil complaint filed in January.
The complaint filed with the federal court for Northern Ohio alleged that Shaffer Pharmacy, owner Thomas Tadsen and pharmacist Wilson Bunton ignored red-flag indicators of drug diversion and drug-seeking behavior when dispensing opioids and other controlled substances.
The consent judgment the court approved Monday holds the three defendants jointly and severally liable for the $375,000 penalty.
