Confirmation of Scott Mugno as OSHA Chief Moving Slowly

Scott Mugno, President Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, is awaiting confirmation from the full Senate following a second approval last week from a Senate committee.
The second approval from the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Thursday was needed because the Senate did not confirm Mugno’s appointment before its session ended in December, Safety Health magazine reported.
The HELP Committee initially approved Mugno’s nomination to serve as assistant secretary of labor to head OSHA on Dec. 13. Trump announced his nomination of Mugno, who is vice president for safety at FedEx Ground, in late October.
