General Assembly Gives Tentative Nod to $50 Million IWIF Raid

By Michael Whiteley, Eastern Bureau ChiefThe Maryland General Assembly tentatively agreed Tuesday to transfer $50 million from the surplus of the Injured Workers' Insurance Fund (IWIF) to the state general revenue as part of a $433.5 million plan to plug gaps in the state's 2012-2013 budget.The Senate voted 33-13 to approve Senate Bill 1301, entitled the "Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act (BRFA) of 2012."
