The Idaho Industrial Commission is seeking public comments on how it should craft a long-term fix to a medical bill coding problem.
After discovering that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' new Comprehensive Ambulatory Payment Classification codes had caused some orthopedic reimbursements in the state to rise significantly, the commission adopted a short-term fix in January, according to a statement. The C-APC codes create a bundled payment for a broader package of services than previous coding methods and work with existing Idaho codes to inflate costs.
