Insurance carriers would have little choice but to pay the U.S. Army's price for hospital services, but injured workers would no longer be asked to pay the balance on medical bills, according to proposed legislation that gained a committee hearing this week.
Senate Bill 935, introduced by state Sen. Kelly Hancock, R-North Richland Hills, seeks to solve the problem that has faced insurers and hundreds of injured workers who have sought treatment at the acclaimed Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio in recent years.
