Missouri's Second-Injury Fund has moved a step closer to getting funded for another three years after a House committee approved HB 384.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Rudy Veit, R-Wardsville, would extend the surcharge on workers' compensation premiums to 2024. The 3% annual assessment is set to expire this year, and proponents of the bill said the funding is needed to ensure the solvency of the program.
The House Workforce Development Committee voted 11-0 in favor of the bill. The measure has now been assigned to the House Rules and Legislative Oversight Committee.
