State Limits Daily Dose of Pregabalin as Concerns Mount About Abuse

North Dakota has become one of the first states to clamp dosage limits on pregabalin, reflecting new concerns that the non-opioid medication may not be as safe as many had hoped. The state's Workforce Safety and Insurance Department last week posted a bulletin that the workers' compensation drug formulary, starting Aug. 15, will limit the maximum daily dosage on pregabalin and its brand name, Lyrica, to just three pills a day for lower dosages, and to two pills a day for 150 milligrams and above.
