North Dakota has become one of the first states to clamp dosage limits on pregabalin, reflecting new concerns that the non-opioid medication may not be as safe as many had hoped.
The state's Workforce Safety and Insurance Department last week posted a bulletin that the workers' compensation drug formulary, starting Aug. 15, will limit the maximum daily dosage on pregabalin and its brand name, Lyrica, to just three pills a day for lower dosages, and to two pills a day for 150 milligrams and above.
