Florida lawmakers introduced bills that appear to answer the state fire marshal's call to revise the definition of heart disease for the purpose of a law that presumes certain conditions are compensable for first responders.
Senate Bill 366, introduced Monday by Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez, R-Doral, and identical companion measure House Bill 269, introduced Tuesday by Rep. Dean Black, R-Jacksonville, would define heart disease in Section 112.18 to mean "any organic, mechanical or functional abnormality of the heart, its structures or the coronary arteries."
