University of Rochester Workers Accepted into SEC

University of Rochester employees who participated in an atomic energy project that ran from the 1940s to the 1970s have been accepted into the U.S. Labor Department's Special Exposure Cohort (SEC), the Rochester Business Journal reported Wednesday.The SEC operates as part of the Federal Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act, which provided $150,000 and medical expenses to Cold War-era nuclear plant weapons workers who contracted one of 22 specified forms of cancer.Admission to the SEC, which is administered by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Hea...
