Bill to Add paid Family Leave to Work Comp Law Defeated in State Senate

The Republican majority in the New York state Senate defeated a bill that would have redefined the definition of disability in the state Workers' Compensation Law to include 12 weeks of paid family leave, according to a press release by Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins. Senate Bill 3004 by Joseph Addabbo, D-Howard Beach, would have provided workers' compensation benefits of $600 per week to employees who take 12 weeks of leave to care for a relative or a new child.
