The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing $77,400 in penalties against an Indiana barge company for electrical safety and other hazards.
OSHA said it inspected Mt. Vernon Barge Services in Jeffersonville on Nov. 5 under its Local Emphasis Program for Maritime Industries. The local emphasis program was established in October 2014 to address an increase in injuries and fatalities at maritime industries.
OSHA cited the company for nine serious safety violations. Seven of the citations were related to electrical safety.
