Lake County, Illinois, has spent $500,000 on workers' compensation claims filed by county employees who slipped and fell in the parking lot, Board Chairman Aaron Lowler said in a letter to Gov. Bruce Rauner.
Writing to offer suggestions on how to resolve the state's budget shortfall, Lowler said the state workers' compensation system needs reform.
"Lake County has experienced losses in excess of $500,000 related to claims made in parking lots prior to/post work that are considered workers' comp (as the county directs where employees should park)," Lowler said.
