Lake County, Illinois, has spent $500,000 on workers' compensation claims filed by county employees who slipped and fell in the parking lot, Board Chairman Aaron Lowler said in a letter to Gov. Bruce Rauner. Writing to offer suggestions on how to resolve the state's budget shortfall, Lowler said the state workers' compensation system needs reform.
